COVID-19 Update

Covid-19 Update

Dear Patients of Glastonbury Family Dental,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming more normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

As of May 20, 2020 we have reopened to provide restorative and preventive treatment.  Our office is following the recommendations made by the American Dental Association's (ADA) return to treatment guidelines.

You will see some changes at our office as it is our goal to provide dental care in the safest way possible during the pandemic. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you before your appointment to ask some COVID-19 screening questions. You will be asked those same questions again when you are in the office. You will then have your temperature taken. Patients who are over 65 or are medically compromised may want to consider postponing elective treatment at this time.

  • We ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes before your appointment time. It is very important you arrive on time to allow for the extra precautions we are taking due to COVID-19.

  • We will have you call us to check in when you arrive in the parking lot for your appointment and will request credit card information (only if you prefer) in order to expedite leaving the office and to minimize contact. We will then call you in when your provider is ready. We are also asking our patients to come alone to their appointments except when absolutely necessary (elderly or disabled patients, young children who require parent presence). Remember to wear your mask.

  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some changes will be made to your dental hygiene appointments: a pre-procedure rinse, no use of ultrasonic scalers , and limited direct doctor exams.

  • Our team will be wearing extra personal protective equipment (PPE) which is bulky and may sometimes make our team look less friendly, we assure you behind all the protection are the same smiles you know and trust. With all the gear we are wearing we will be keeping the temperature cooler so please dress appropriately.

  • Other steps we have taken: We will be updating staff temperatures and medical history daily. We have purchased HEPA air filters with UVC sanitation for use in many areas.

We are looking forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we have taken to keep our staff, and every patient, safe in our practice.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely, Nimesh L Patel, DMD, Jeffrey A Cohan, DMD and the entire staff of Glastonbury Family Dental (860.633.6246)
